Gamalakhe CHC is located in KwaZulu-Natal Province on the South Coast, about 130 km from Durban, 19km from Port Shepstone, 15km from Margate and 45km from the Wild Coast. The CHC is situated in the middle of the urban area, Ward 28 of Ray Nkonyeni Municipality.
Gamalakhe Clinic was upgraded to a Community Health Centre in April 2011 to provide services at Community Health Centre level of care that is 24 hour, 7 days a week with full services of medical coverage.
The CHC serves mainly Gamalakhe Community and surrounding areas, with a catchment population of about 33 000. It serves as a referral for 9 clinics which are Gcilima Clinic, Margate Clinic, Ludimala Clinic, Mvutshini Clinic, Shelly Beach Clinic, Port Edward Clinic, Breamer Clinic, Ntabeni Clinic and Bhomela Clinic. Phase 1 & 2 of the CHC has been completed, phase 3, which will incorporate a Mortuary, EMS Base, Laundry Department and Nurses Home, will be done at a later stage
